This is Kimmy Dee. This is Kimmy Dee's brain. You've been warned. By turns hysterically filthy and heartbreakingly sincere, PUSSY PLANET chronicles snapshots of the life of an irreverent woman. From an unintentionally foul-mouthed offspring to failed attempts at masturbation to dealing with an anxiety disorder to the loss of a parent, PUSSY PLANET is an insightful and ridiculously funny collection of personal essays from a writer with a totally unique-- and screwed-up-- view of the world. This is Kimmy Dee's PUSSY PLANET, we're only along for the ride.
Pussy Planet and Other Endearing Tales Kimmy Dee 9781535020268 Books
I had such fun reading this. Kimmy Dee is not only hysterically funny, she has one of the most unique comedic voices I've ever come across-- wry, self-effacing, and sarcastic. And she's fearless. The essays in this collection run the gamut of her life experiences, but she's not afraid to show the reader her real self, and her most embarrassing and personal moments.
What really blew me away, though, were the occasional moments of seriousness. "Losing Jack" is one of the most heart-breaking things I've ever read on the subject of loss, as Kimmy chronicles the experience of living through her dad's eventual losing battle with cancer. It's deeply profound and personal and moving.
But the majority of PUSSY PLANET is comedy culled from real life, unflinching, uncompromising, and compulsively readable. I highly recommend it.

Pussy Planet and Other Endearing Tales Kimmy Dee 9781535020268 Books Reviews
I loved this book. Well written, honest and witty. Her sense of humor is irreverent and refreshing. The one serious essay "Losing Jack" shows the bond a girl has with her father, and perhaps explains much of her outlook which is on display in the other stories. As the father of a daughter, I related to this story especially.
What a beautifully written story. Kudos to the author for bearing her soul in a (sometimes) comedic way. She has a style of her own. Dealing with so much tragedy, yet somehow finding a way to insert humor. 2 thumbs up!!
Just finished this epic book. It was more than what I had expected. Kimmy Dee is a fantastic foul-mouthed writer and even in her most heartbreaking chapters, she still made humor of the loss of a family member. I have recommended this book to one of my closest friends, whom also has a warped and twisted mind similar to mine and Kimmy Dee's brains!
I don't usually go for non fiction but a friend recommended this and I absolutely loved it. In the tradition of David Sedaris and Chelsea Handler, Kimmy Dee's hilariously skewed (and deliciously vulgar) collection of essays will make you Lol.
So I started reading this one at work during down times between incoherent spreadsheets and overly complicated contracts. Getting a glimpse into Kimmy Dee's viewpoint on this ride called life was a nice escape from hearing accountants debate about offsetting journal entries. She isn't one to shy away from exposing her own foibles and faults to hilarious extremes. For several days, she was that awesome coworker who comes to your cubicle on the sly to share a story about herself that's completely inappropriate for company time. And soon, you look forward to the next time she stops by to share a laugh with you about the absurdities of life. I finished the last half of this book yesterday, Things get honest and painful, which is something brave writers do. By the end of the book, I admired Kimmy Dee for exposing herself to readers, sharing her fears and anxieties with warmth and humor. A unique voice among the static. Looking forward to the next chapters and endearing tales to come.
The "Portnoy" comparison reflects not only the subject matter but also Kimmy Dee's tone. She heaps invective on everything -- friends, family, pets, and especially herself -- and makes great use of raunchy vocabulary. She is truly funny. However (as others have noted too), the two stories about her father are indeed touching and show another, deeper dimension to her work.
The two fictional short stories at the end of the collection were pretty good but didn't quite fit in with the non-fiction material, in my view.
Kimmy Dee is... how can I put this? One of my long time virtual friends and someone I have watched grow as a writer, mother and person. Albeit online I was there for many of the stories referenced in this book and it still gave me chills at certain parts. This books humor cannot be beat. I gobbled this book up in less than 24 hours and it has left a dent in my otherwise shriveled and black soul. If you are in need of a good laugh and a good cry then I suggest you take a chance on "P*ssy Planet and Other Endearing Tales. If the first 2 pages haven't tickled your funny bone then... you suck basically.
