Valerie is on vacation after a messy divorce leads to a breakdown at work, and despite the warnings of wolves around the upstate New York lake she's visiting, she's determined to relax. This was the first time I ever read a story within a twenty-four hour period and I know exactly why that is.There isn't a dull moment in this story; the action is rather fast-paced and consistent. Even when there are important plot points being told, there is still something compelling me to scroll to the next page and read on. (Or, maybe that "something" is the fact that this is a werewolf story and I very much enjoy the mythology.)
Speaking of the mythology, I enjoy the fact that Gold puts his own spin on the lore, adding ideas and concepts to the genre while expanding upon some of the concepts - concepts that are very much embedded into the mythology.
Overall, he does capture the essence of what a werewolf mystery/romance novella is. He creates a compelling story where you really can sympathize and understand each side of the story; the motives behind the character's actions are compelling and believable.
I definitely recommend this work if you enjoy Gold's works and if you enjoy a good werewolf story.

Not sure whether good furry book or not. Focuses way too much on the human side of things and never gets to anything important. Nothing serious really ever happens the whole way through so I guess it's just a story about a kid and his dog /
This was a great read. I love Kyell Gold's work and was kind of worried with how it differed from his usual stories. I'm happy to say that I was greatly surprised by how much I enjoyed it.
Ok.. For readers who have read Kyell's other works and are looking for some fun latenight reading let me advise you that there is only one scene and it is (to Kyells standards) very tame.
Now for the serious reader - this is an enjoyable werewolf story with shades of Charles de Lint in it and a dash of Earth spirits. All in all a recipe that this writer found very palatable. The story is fast paced and keeps you captive till the end with enough twists and turns to keep you guessing.
I hope others find this as enjoyable as I did.

I don't normally get into books with women as leads, but this was one of the rare cases I decided to pick one up. Like always Kyell Gold has written a wonderful book, world, and characters to inhabit its pages, and those dark places within our hearts.
